Context of Gaetan's favourite project:
My client supplies rolling stock, transport infrastructure and signalling, maintenance equipment, and global rail systems. Considering the fact that interoperability is a worldwide priority, I chose to join its Transport Information Solutions department. This department provides rail operators with signalling solutions facilitating border crossing, opening the market of rail signalling, increasing commercial speeds, reducing intervals between two trains, reducing maintenance costs, while guaranteeing maximum safety. I am in charge of the proper coordination and the efficient execution of a multi-million international project that outfits rail vehicles with an ETCS level 2 on-board system.
Gaetan's Project Challenges:
The complexity of this project comes from the multi-configuration train types and from the several partner companies which need to interface with one another. There, however, can be no excuse for mastering the project processes perfectly as an issue could potentially impact an entire fleet; and this complexity cannot jeopardize the top priority: safety. In this context, customer satisfaction can be obtained only if trains' unavailability is optimized.
Gaetan's Project Solution:
The QCD objectives can only be met with a rigorous project management methodology and the application of well recognized practices. Altran’s major contribution lies in the consultant’s ability to understand the technical concerns of the stakeholders, to drive the project as a real project conductor, and to ensure any relevant risk anticipation.
